Saint-Paul-de-Vence | Tuesday, Nov 04, 2025 | Tuesday, Nov 04, 2025 |
One of the best inland spots in the French Riviera region is St. Paul de Vence, a little town about 10 mi/15 km northeast of Cannes. Its setting, along with its reputation for attracting the rich and famous, makes it a wonderful place to have a meal or to browse among its many art galleries. Just outside of town is Maeght Foundation, a gallery with sculptures by Miro and Giacometti, colored glass windows by Braque, and mosaics by Chagall. It was created in 1964 by art collectors Aime and Marguerite Maeght, and its collection of 20th-century works is one of the largest in Europe. Nearby, in the town of Vence, is the Chapelle du Rosaire, a small church whose interior, windows and bell tower were designed by Henri Matisse. The artist spent almost four years of exclusive attention working on the church and called it his masterpiece.

Chateauneuf-du-Pape | Saturday, Nov 08, 2025 | Saturday, Nov 08, 2025 |
The village takes its name from the summer palace of Avignon popes, but neither the scant ruins of the fourteenth-century château nor medieval streets around place du Portail - the hub of the village - give Châteauneuf its special appeal. Rather it's the wines produced by the local vineyards, warmed at night by the large pebbles that cover the ground and soak up the sun's heat during the day, that are its real attraction. The rich ruby red is one of France's most renowned, but the white, too, is exquisite. The appellation Châteauneuf-du-Pape does not come cheap, nor is there a center where you can taste a good selection from the scores of domaines . The casual Cave Père-Anselme has a Musée des Outils de Vigneron, plus free tastings of its wines. Otherwise, the tourist office or the Fédération des Syndicats de Producteurs can provide a complete list of producers, or visit an Association de Vignerons, such as Prestige et Tradition, who bottle the wine of ten producers.

Beaune | Tuesday, Nov 11, 2025 | Tuesday, Nov 11, 2025 |
During its 2000 year existance Beaune was for a short period the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy, then a busy commercial center for the cloth and wine industries. The town took on a defensive character through the continous fortification of its ramparts and castle whose functions were to protect its interests and inhabitants. In the 18th century Beaune became the center of commerce for Burgundy's fine wines. Today, the visitor finds a charming blend of medieval half timbered houses, the gentle curves of romanesque architecture, rooftops ornamented by weathervanes, fascinating townhouses and the multicolored tiles and lead "lacework " of the Hôtel Dieu within the city walls. Bastions and towers offer a peaceful protection to the region's most prestigous products, and the moat has been transformed into public or private gardens sheltering century old plant collections.

Pros: Loved the trip
Cons: Lousy room at the Fairmont Hotel in Monaco. Not the typical room offered on a Tauck trip.
Review: When we asked about changing our room, we were told there would be an up charge of 150 euros. Not acceptable !!
Excellent. Food was fabulous. Ship very clean. Employees wonderful.
Pros: Excellent. Food was fabulous. Ship very clean. Employees wonderful.
Cons: Did not like hotel in Monaco. View from room was not good and should have had a sea view.
Review: Overall experience was very good.

Pros: This was our third riverboat trip with Tauck and was not only a typical Tauck trip that is well run, great staff and service it was an enjoyable and memorable experience.
Cons: I would have to make something up, which would mean I am not ever happy about anything. Cannot see how one would complain about the trip.
Review: We have utilized Tauck for many years and started with them at the recommendation of our travel agent Whirlaway Travel after a disastrous experience with another company. This was our eighth Tauck trip with number nine scheduled for October of this year. While we have looked at other vendors I cannot think of any reason to change unless there was someplace we really really wanted to go to that Tauck did not offer. We have several bucket list trips to go which as far as we can anticipate I They will be with Tauck.
