Panama Canal | Friday, Dec 13, 2024 | Friday, Dec 13, 2024 |
Linking the Atlantic to the Pacific, the Panama Canal provides one of cruising's most unforgettable experiences. Over 10 years were needed to complete the canal's 51 miles in 1914 - so avoiding the lengthy and often dangerous voyage around Cape Horn. 'The Big Ditch' lifts vessels by a fascinating feat of mechanics aided by on-shore 'mule' locomotives through three great locks, traversing man-made lakes, channels blasted through rock, and the dense jungle. Two other special highlights of the canal are Gatun Lake and the Gaillard cut. Gatun Lake is one of the world's largest man-made lakes covering 163 square miles. Gaillard Cut is an 8 mile channel built through solid rock which was the most difficult excavation in the canal construction.
Colon (Panama) | Friday, Dec 13, 2024 | Friday, Dec 13, 2024 |
There’s more to Panama than the canal. Panama’s ethnic mix is reflected in its arts. This is a proud nation that honors its many Indian tribes and its rich Spanish legacy. Puerto Limon | Saturday, Dec 14, 2024 | Saturday, Dec 14, 2024 |
Puerto LÃmon, on a palm-fringed shore backed by mountains, is the country's most important port. It was built on the site of an ancient Indian village, Cariari, where Columbus landed on his fourth and last voyage. Though he felt this was potentially a very rich land and named it Costa Rica, it never quite lived up to his expectations. However the spot where he anchored has proved to be the best port of the Caribbean coast. It was from here that the first shipments of bananas headed to North America in the late 19th century.

Grand Cayman (George Town) | Monday, Dec 16, 2024 | Monday, Dec 16, 2024 |
Grand Cayman attracts most Cayman tourists, most of whom flock to Seven Mile Beach. Divers see abundant marine life. Gentle stingrays cluster at Stingray City. Rum Point serves up cinnamony rum punch. Spend an entire day floating in clear azure waters. At dawn, head out on a dive boat or tan on decadent Seven Mile Beach. Check out underwater sights without getting wet on a 100-foot descent on Atlantis Submarine or an 800-foot descent in a two-person sub to a shipwreck. Head to Hell, with its velour-clad devil, before zipping over to Turtle Farm. Grand Cayman's sparsely populated East End is refreshing with long streches of rocky coast. The oldest island structure is a castle rumored to have been built by pirates two centuries ago in Savannah. Blowholes offer awesome spots for picture of watery spires. Harborside George Town has tempting shops. Among popular nightlife spots are Ramada's Treasure Island and Island Rock. Hopping pubs include Lone Star Bar & Grill or My Bar on the shores of Sunset House.

The shipboard medical centers are primarily intended to provide acute care for illness and accidents that may occur while on vacation and are not intended to provide long-term care for patients with chronic illnesses or as a substitute for regular health care.
The medical centers are intended to provide quality maritime medical care for guests and crew members aboard the ships; initiate appropriate stabilization, diagnostic and therapeutic maneuvers for critically ill or mentally unstable patients; support, comfort and care for patients onboard; and facilitate the timely medical evacuation of patients, if appropriate.
Charges for medical services will be added to guests' shipboard account. Guests will be provided with an itemized account to submit to their insurance company. Please note that Princess ships are registered in Bermuda. Guests should verify with their insurer if coverage applies outside the United States, or purchase appropriate travel insurance.
Pregnant women entering the 24th week of pregnancy by the last day of the cruise are not allowed to sail.
All pregnant women are required to produce a physician’s letter stating that mother and baby are in good health, fit to travel and the pregnancy is not high-risk. The letter must also include the estimated date of delivery (EDD) calculated from both Last Menstrual Period (LMP) and ultrasound (if performed).
It is strongly recommend that pregnant guests review their health insurance coverage before cruising. Many policies, including Medicare, will not pay for services or hospitalization outside of the country or for emergency evacuation.
Guests may want to consider Princess Vacation Protection, which is available for purchase up to the time of final payment of the cruise fare. If the guest did not secure Princess Vacation Protection, it is recommended that they secure other travel protection.
Keeping the comfort of guests a priority, Princess has implemented the following smoking policy:
Designated Smoking Areas
Clearly marked "Designated Smoking Areas" are available onboard and include a sufficient number of ashtrays that are emptied regularly. Generally, these areas include cigar lounges, a section of the nightclub and casino, as well as a portion of the open decks. As a safety precaution, passengers are reminded to properly dispose of cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco, which are never to be thrown overboard as this may be sucked back into the ship and cause fires.
Stateroom Smoking Policy
Smoking is prohibited in all passenger staterooms and on stateroom balconies. Violations to this policy will result in a $250 fine for each occurrence, which will be charged to the guest's stateroom account.
Electronic Cigarettes
The use of electronic cigarettes is permitted in all areas onboard with the exception of dining areas and the Princess Theater. However, should a fellow guest in the vicinity feel inconvenienced and complain, even after being told the difference between electronic and real cigarettes, the guest will be asked to refrain from smoking the electronic cigarette.
Princess is happy to meet your request for low-sodium, low-fat, low-sugar, and vegetarian diets. Guests may visit Cruise Personalizer® on the Princess website (https://book.princess.com/cruisepersonalizer/) to indicate dietary preferences.
In addition, kosher meals and baby food are available upon advance written request. Any other special diet requests must be authorized in advance by the Princess corporate office.
Guests or their travel agent must advise Princess, in writing, of any special diet, allergies, or medical needs. Requests must be received no later than 35 days prior to departure for cruises to Alaska, Canada/New England, Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama Canal and Coastal Getaways. For all other cruises, requests must be received no later than 65 days prior to departure. Once onboard, please check with the Maitre D' to confirm the request.
Princess makes every effort to accommodate guests with disabilities. Guests can ensure a successful trip by working with them in advance. Guests or their travel agents should notify Princess of wheelchair usage, special needs, and/or service animals before the voyage. Notices and requests must be made in writing and faxed to the Princess Access office at 661-284-4408 at least 30 days prior to sailing. For answers to any questions about the program, please call the Princess Access office at 661-284-4521.
All Princess ships have wheelchair-accessible staterooms, but it is highly recommended that guests bring collapsible wheelchairs, as the widths of the stateroom doors vary. Guests may bring their own, or they can pre-reserve a wheelchair and have it and other medical equipment delivered to the ship by contacting Special Needs at Sea at 800-513-4515 (outside the US 954-585-0575), or by visiting Special Needs at Sea's website (http://www.specialneedsatsea.com/). Alternatively, guests may contact CareVacations at 877-478-7827 or cruiseshipassist.com. Some areas on some ships are not wheelchair accessible.
Passengers utilizing mobility devices with batteries are advised that the batteries must be a dry cell type, and must be stored and recharged in the stateroom. Mobility devices of any kind, like any other items, may not be left outside the stateroom. Because of staffing limitations, it is recommended that guests travel with a companion who is physically able to assist them both onboard and onshore.
Travelers with disabilities should check in with the onboard Tour Office to ensure all shore excursions can accommodate them. Not all port facilities are accessible for those using mobility devices. Ports may be accessed by a variety of methods including a ramped gangway, a series of steps or by tender. In some cases, you may be able to access the tender, but the shoreside facility will not be accessible. Many ports of call use a mechanism known as a “stair climber” to assist passengers up and down the gangway. Passengers must transfer to a Princess wheelchair, which is connected to the stair climber and operated by the ship’s personnel. Guests may be precluded from going ashore if they cannot transfer or if their personal mobility device cannot be easily disembarked. With the safety and comfort of guests in mind, the decision to permit or prohibit passengers from going ashore will be made on each occasion by the ship’s Captain, and the decision will be final. Ports that normally use tenders to access the shore are noted on the itinerary.
The maximum weight of the wheelchair including guest cannot exceed 600 lbs. on transportation lifts. If the guests has purchased a Princess Transfer at the start or end of the cruise, they must be made aware that lift-equipped transportation may not be available in their port of embarkation or disembarkation.
Tender Port Policy
The goal of Princess Cruises is to provide a safe comfortable cruise experience for all guests. If a guest will be using a mobility device during their sailing, it is strongly recommended that they travel with a person physically fit to assist with the guest's needs both onboard and ashore. Embarking and disembarking can be challenging for those with limited mobility. Many major ports of call provide easy access for wheelchairs and scooters. However, due to various conditions - steepness of the gangway, weather, shore-side facilities, tidal and sea conditions - passengers using mobility devices may be required to transfer to a stair climber or be precluded from going ashore. Princess staff will make every effort to assist but are not allowed to individually physically lift more than 50 pounds (22 kg).
Some ports of call require the ship to anchor off shore. Passengers are then taken to shore by small boats or tenders. When tendering is required, passengers using mobility devices will not be transferred into or out of the tender, if lifting in excess of the above limitation is required. Many tender ports do not provide wheelchair access so even if the passenger can board the tender they may not be able to disembark ashore. Again the shore-side facilities, movement of the tender, weather and tidal conditions can also preclude tendering.
The decision to allow any passenger to board a tender or disembark the vessel will be made by the Captain on the basis of the safety and welfare of all involved and is final. If passengers are unable to tender or disembark because of circumstances outlined above there will be no refund or credit for missed ports. While Princess recognizes guests' disappointment, the safety of both guests and crew takes precedence.
Entry regulations for service animals vary by port. Passengers are advised to consult authorities at each port prior to departure for more information. Princess does not have food onboard for animals. The choice of dog litter material is limited and varies by ship.
Electronic Assistance Devices
Princess ships are equipped with “All-in-One Kits” with TTY that can be used in most passenger cabins and at Princess wilderness lodges. Most televisions onboard provide closed captioning and most onboard theaters have assisted listening devices. Electric outlets in most staterooms are limited to one and it is helpful to travel with an extension cord for electrical equipment. Princess also offers JAWS Professional software with a KOSS-TD/80 headset on one terminal in each Internet Café on every ship.
Internet access is available on all Princess vessels through the 24-hour onboard internet café and wireless network, which is available in staterooms and various public areas.
Guests can use the state-of-the-art computer systems located in the internet café to access their web-based email accounts or to browse the internet. Guests may also use their own wireless-enabled laptops to access the internet through the onboard wireless network.
Guests may contact the Internet Café Manager onboard for information regarding the charges that apply to internet and wireless services, and any other specific requirements.
Please note that internet access via satellite is significantly slower than high-speed connections on shore. Princess reserves the right to filter content accessed via the ship's internet services. High bandwidth consuming applications - such as voice over IP telephony, peer-to-peer file sharing, and streaming media - may be restricted onboard Princess vessels.
The onboard medical facilities meet or exceed the standards established by the American College of Emergency Physicians. Facilities are staffed by full-time registered doctors and nurses. In addition to twice-daily office hours, they are available 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency.
Princess offers entertaining options for kids ages 3-17. Scheduled activities are supervised by a specially trained staff of dedicated Youth Activities Coordinators. However, Youth Center staff cannot administer medication, bottle-feed, change diapers, provide meal service, or offer individual one-on-one supervision. Children must be 3 years of age or older and fully potty trained to participate in the youth program.

Submit Your Own Review!Viewing a total solar eclipse, traveling through the Panama Canal, Zip Line excursion
Pros: Viewing a total solar eclipse, traveling through the Panama Canal, Zip Line excursion
Cons: none
Review: Our cabin was on deck 11 B531. Our steward, Andrew was phenomenal with assisting us with answers to questions we had about the ship and amenities. Our room service provider, Edward 10, ensured we had our coffee delivered on time, and it was hot, which was much appreciated.
Staff and Dining exceptional. Most ports have good excursions. Express baggage right to airport a definite plus!
Pros: Staff and Dining exceptional. Most ports have good excursions. Express baggage right to airport a definite plus!
Cons: Very loud music in the atrium. Have complained every cruise. Cannot talk in lounges near atrium. Why is it so doggone loud? Blasts the eardrums and not enjoyable.
Review: Wish some tours didn't focus on shopping so much. Panama stellar experience. Eclipse wonderful addition. Did not think entertainment quite as good as in past cruises but still enjoyable.
Lots of entertainment on board - food was good - enjoyed the commentary at the eclipse and the canal
Pros: Lots of entertainment on board - food was good - enjoyed the commentary at the eclipse and the canal
Cons: Casual dining was always booked
Review: Ready to sign up for another cruise!
Great food, great service, friendly crew. Buffet remodeling was well done and needed.
Pros: Great food, great service, friendly crew. Buffet remodeling was well done and needed.
Cons: Staterooms showing a lot of wear and tear now
Review: Just returned from a 15-day Panama Canal/Total Eclipse cruise. Ship was FULL but didn’t feel overly crowded. Ate every dinner in the Michelangelo Dining Room and didn’t have a single disappointing meal! This is better than our typical MDR experience on other ships. Enjoyed the enrichment speakers who shared fun facts about the Panama Canal and the amazing total eclipse. The captain did a fantastic job of positioning the ship for best viewing of the eclipse. Passenger vibe was the be most positive/upbeat we’ve ever seen. Everyone’s gratitude for being able to view the rare event from the convenience of a cruise ship was palpable. Had an ocean view room on Plaza Deck 5 and loved the convenient location. Excursions were all wonderful. Overall, one of our favorite cruises ever.
Great islands- 8 in 14 days, service was great
Pros: Great islands- 8 in 14 days, service was great
Cons: Entertainment was great except for one performer.
Review: The mighty Quinn was the worst performer that we have ever seen on a cruise ship. His talent was severely lacking and his interaction with the audience was very offensive.
Friendly, clean, fun games and entertainment
Pros: Friendly, clean, fun games and entertainment
Cons: No Cons
Review: Enjoyed the cruise and had a wonderful time
Pros: No Pros
Cons: Original Itinerary stated stop in Bar Harbor, then was changed to Rockland, Maine.
Review: Beautiful Ship Wonderful, Friendly, Knowledgeable Staff and Crew When we booked, itinerary listed Bar Harbor, ME as stop, which was then changed to Rockland, ME. No reason given for change, but Rockland was a MAJOR disappointment! Only had three shops of interest, and a lot of the restaurants were closed due to being past Labor Day. Too small a village/town to entertain/support cruise traffic. Was also supposed to go to Halifax, Nova Scotia but could not due to approaching of Hurricane Lee. Although disappointed, thoroughly appreciated reason for unscheduled change. Better safe than sorry!
The cruise staff was attentive to every little need so we felt that we were well carded.for
Pros: The cruise staff was attentive to every little need so we felt that we were well carded.for
Cons: No cons: Of course Princess tried to save costs in small areas but these really did not matter.
Review: Importantly, all of the staff went far out of their way to provide an excellent cruise experience. Each made us fell both welcome and important on board. I clearly recommend Princess; especially providing good value for the cost.
Helpful with handicapped, food excellent and choices varied greatly, dining experience was relaxing
Pros: Helpful with handicapped, food excellent and choices varied greatly, dining experience was relaxing
Cons: Buffet hard to maneuver with walker and often cold, walkers had to be folded to get into stateroom
Review: I was lucky to have a cabin steward who was around to help me with my walker. It is a smaller ship than the Regal or Royal but is easier to get around. Passenger Services was outstanding. I like sea days so this experience was great; however, there were not many ports so those new to cruising may not like this experience. Also because of port fees, this is more expensive than most cruises.
Ship's crew & staff; visiting the Biomuseo in Panama City
Pros: Ship's crew & staff; visiting the Biomuseo in Panama City
Cons: Some of the Medallion things
Review: As always with Princess Cruises, special recognition is deserved by several members of the crew and staff. We were very pleased with the friendliness, professionalism and attention provided by our stateroom steward (Mohamed), the dining room waiter (Oliver) and junior waiter (Antonio) and the head waiter (George). These people rank among the very best we have experienced in all of our cruises. Unfortunately, the Medallion app -- though helpful in some regards -- seems to have been designed without much input from those who use it, both the ship's guests and the ship's crew. On multiple occasions we experienced crew members who were unable to make it work on their hand-held devices, and also had it suddenly stop working on our phones. We ended up with our account being charged for somebody else's trip to the bar for a couple of cocktails, even though I gained agreement from a Guest Services person that the charge would be removed it was not done so. Hopefully these problems were made evident to the Princess department with responsibility for this relatively new piece of technology and they can make some improvements. At this point, I recommend keeping constant watch on the charges made to a stateroom account.
Very good value for $$$ paid
Pros: Very good value for $$$ paid
Cons: All cruise lines are struggliung to attract crew and it shows in slightly degraded service
Review: Thoroughly happy with trip. Only slight issue was caused by us: we bid for an "upgraded," larger balcony.and our bid (the minimum) was accepted. Our new cabin on the 8th deck was right on the stern and the noise from the ship's wake was too noisy foir us to ever enjoy sitting out there! Dining room servers, captain, and our room steward were all excellent. Bar servers and people who bus dishes in the beffet dining rooms a little less so. All in all, a great trip.
very good cabin and service.
Pros: very good cabin and service.
Cons: Food was not as good as previous times.
Review: Overall experience was good, did not like the quality of food and wish there were more activities on board.
Everything went well on the ship.

Review: I love going on cruises with friends.
Excellent Service, Friendly Crew.
Pros: Excellent Service, Friendly Crew.
Cons: International Cafe brewed coffee is now like water!
Review: We loved this cruise, this itinerary was just what we wanted. The shore excursions were outstanding and kept us busy almost every day! Unfortunately, we were disappointed to miss Paris... I was looking forward to seeing the Beaches at Normandy (The change was not Princess fault at all, they did everything in their power to give us good replacements!)
Port Intensive

Review: Wonderful 14 day Circle the Caribbean cruise...a little relaxing, a lot of site seeing, plenty of ports to familiarize yourself with the caribbean life style...
Being on the water
Pros: Being on the water

Review: They did a very good update of the ship. We always enjoy the 18th floor, Skywalkers Lounge, for the view when departing port.
The ship was at 25% occupancy which was great. Everyone was happy.
Pros: The ship was at 25% occupancy which was great. Everyone was happy.
Cons: We think a case of Covid made us a day late going through canal.
Review: I loved everything about the cruise. Since it was the first one in 2 years we really needed this one.
The staff from the Captain to the waiters were friendly and competent. The entertainment was top notch. The tours and guides were very interesting. I enjoy a mid-sized ship and the Emerald is my favorite.
Pros: The staff from the Captain to the waiters were friendly and competent. The entertainment was top notch. The tours and guides were very interesting. I enjoy a mid-sized ship and the Emerald is my favorite.
Cons: I have a shellfish/fish allergy so my menu selection is not extensive.
Review: This crossing only had 3 children so they opened the Youth Room to the adults. What fun playing Skee Ball, Air Hockey, and Ping Pong! My cabin on deck 10 had a huge balcony. It was twice the size of my friends on Deck 11.
Excellent itinerary
Pros: Excellent itinerary
Cons: None
Review: Wonderful cruise. Would recommend staying in a hotel for a night or 2 in the port of the beginning of the cruise and also at the end of the cruise. That way you can take advantage of the excursions in these ports. This will especially help at the beginning of the cruise to get over jet lag.
Loved the staff and the way the ship was set up (many different areas and options)
Pros: Loved the staff and the way the ship was set up (many different areas and options)
Cons: The rooms were much smaller then other Princess ships
Review: Overall we enjoyed the cruise...we very disappointed in our room, it was MUCH smaller then previous ships and we had a HUGE beam blocking our view on the balcony (it took up 3/4 of the view). We always book the aft balcony on all ships and this BY FAR was the worst room. We booked it as a 14 day cruise not knowing it was sold as 7 day cruises as well, this was also a disappointment because they repeated things (meals, and a few ports). This changed from when I first booked it in August and it was not disclosed to me later. We also had problems with internet access (I understand this ship will be updated soon). The crew was AMAZING though :)
Good Enrichment presentations
Pros: Good Enrichment presentations
Cons: Internet not working
Review: The internet was not working and the production shows were lewd. The other entertainers were fantastic. The ship staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall an excellent cruise. Our 5th Hawaiian cruise.

Review: Would definitely recommend Princess Cruse Line to my friends for their next vacation. Had a wonderful trip that we will cherish for many years to come & to have them celebrate our anniversary with us was a pleasant surprise that meant the world to us.
It was a great experience. The ship is beautiful with a courteous, helpful and friendly crew. The food was delicious and plentiful. The stateroom was very clean and well kept.

Review: This was our 10th Princess cruise
The Emerald is easy to find your way around
Pros: The Emerald is easy to find your way around
Cons: It is older and could use a facelift.
Review: Some of the excursions were not worth the price paid That's why not a 5 star for value. The check in process was awful, no easily visible signs for preferred check ins and those checking us in were not very efficient.
Very friendly and competent staff
Pros: Very friendly and competent staff
Cons: Long lines and waits for excursions.
Review: The cruise itself was excellent. Staff was friendly and competent. Food in the dining room was excellent. Buffet food was good but not exceptional. Ship was clean and well maintained. Entertainment was enjoyable but I would not have gone out of my way to see it had I been home. My main complaints were the long waits and lines for several of the excursions. In Punta Arenas there was dock space for only one tender at a time. We waited 2 hours to board the tender to the dock and 45 minutes on the return. (Note: people returning to a Celebrity Cruise ship had no wait.) At Puerto Madryn, the bus we boarded was worn and dirty. The seat belts did not work. We were given a cold ham and cheese sandwich for lunch. On the Tigre Delta boat excursion, we made a 30 min. stop at a church which was of no interest and not on the schedule. We waited 45 minutes before boarding the boat. We had a bathroom stop but there was no toilet paper which upset many. At Ushuaia, 8 buses left for the "Drive to End of World" at the same time. Needless to say, the end of world became very crowded and we did not go on the planned "nature walk." I would recommend exploring non-Princess excursions.
A variety of activities, shows, tours and dining options
Pros: A variety of activities, shows, tours and dining options
Cons: None for me. Truly none!
Review: A large ship with a very helpful and professional staff, always willing to help! Truly every team member demonstrated service excellence and I do not have one complaint; everything was to my liking and satisfaction. Thank you for a fabulous 17 day trip to many beautiful parts of Peru and Chile.

Dixie Land Band was good, also Trivia. Room Service was very good.
Pros: Dixie Land Band was good, also Trivia. Room Service was very good.
Cons: Older adult entertainment would be greatly appreciated . 50s and 60s ,music would be a nice addition.
Review: Please try to depart and return to same dock. Airports are horrendous. Much lost time! When we got off of the ship for a tour, there were NOT enough signs to direct us to correct busses etc.

Pros: Had alot of sea days so it was a very relaxing cruise.
Cons: The long airline trip.
Review: When booking airlines through Princess besure to check with the airlines for seat reservations rather then through Princess.
Great shore excursion handling
Pros: Great shore excursion handling
Cons: Same old food in the buffet if that's even a con!
Review: The ship was full but it never felt like it, the entertainment was wonderful, even had lots to do on sea days. The dimming room food was great, the staff and service was the best I've ever experienced. Our cabin was quiet, very comfortable and surprisingly the tv options were terrific, lots of American channels, movies that were offered on their revs were also available in our cabins. It was a great trip

Review: Everything was great. Princess is very organized from the boarding of the ship to the disembarkation. Great staff, great layout - everything was topnotch. Enjoyed the variety of dining choices and the addition of a buffet for your meal choices offered a great variety of food, times, and dress. With the buffet, dress is much more casual.
Pros: No Pros

Cons: Multiple
Review: We arrived at our stateroom only to find we could not get in. Key card would not work because battery in door had to be changed....took 2 hours for them to do this. We were in the aft of the ship and there was a lot of vibration from the engines or props. We had hot water and AC but some people did not have either. Food in dining room was pretty good but the buffet food was typical buffet, wasn't that great and it wasn't hardly warm. Took the Island Cruise on Princess Cays and it was surely not worth $34.50pp. All it did was take us up the coastline and all we saw was water, shoreline and scrub brush. We could see that from the ship. They should do away with the excursion unless they add some other things.
Great crew, food, shows. Princess quality all the way.
Pros: Great crew, food, shows. Princess quality all the way.
Cons: The ship is going in for refit about 12/01/2015 and some the need for the refit showed.
Review: In Roatan we went to the Carambola Botanical Gardens, a lot of interesting plants, many fruit bearing, the rotting fruit attracts ants, which were a problem, put bug repellant on your feet. At Cozumel we went to Chichen Itza, a bucket list item for me. On the way back the ferry from Playa del Carmen to Cozomel was late and slow. the motto of the UltraMar Ferry is Volando el Mar, (Fly the Sea) but it more "wallow like a sick whale."

Review: Overall, the trip was great. Customer service on the ship was a little off in comparison to the Alaskan trip.
Excellent and elegant service
Pros: Excellent and elegant service
Cons: Air conditioning a little hot in the room
Review: The ship was beautiful and the crew was excellent. Overall a wonderful experience aboard this ship. They are very thorough and that is much appreciated.
While the first week of the cruise was busy with a new port daily (which were wonderful to see - especially Barcelona, Lisbon, and Funchal), the second week crossing the Atlantic was wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable. The Emerald Princess is not so huge you feel lost in a crowd, but it is big enough to provide plenty to do. The food is great, the service is wonderful, and there is plenty to do.

Cons: They did run out of some wines!
Review: We would go on a cruise on the Emerald Princess again. We would even cross the ocean again as it was so pleasant and we were able to do so much rather than feel strapped in a seat on a plane for ten hours.
Food and shows
Pros: Food and shows
Cons: Cabin-- bathroom had a terrible urin odor during the entire trip. They were unable to correct.
Review: Love Princess cruise line but not this ship
comfortable accommodations, attentive staff, lovely destinations, well-organized
Pros: comfortable accommodations, attentive staff, lovely destinations, well-organized
Cons: poor weather, out of Princess' control. With cool weather, i wish the pools had been heated; they were frigid. Some tours were not as we would have hoped.
Review: In all, a lovely, relaxing cruise white interesting ports.
Nice experience, exellent tour in Istanbul
Pros: Nice experience, exellent tour in Istanbul
Cons: We were expetting better entertainment
Review: We had a wonderful time, the ports were well selected and Princess Cruise was what we expected, well organized as usual. We also spent four days in Istanbul and the private tour we booked was exellent, the guide spoke a good english and she was always prompt to adjust to our change. She even provided a wheelchair for me to go eround.
excellent dining and stateroom staffs
Pros: excellent dining and stateroom staffs
Cons: buffet lunches while in port were very crowded, scheduling of the port information was poor because it was during our early dining some of the time, pastries and baked items were not up to Princess standards and many times not fresh, dining room is not open for breakfast early enough to use before shore excursions
Review: not use to such a large ship, prefer the 2,000 or less passenger ships
This ship had 3600 people aboard, yet felt empty. No long lines anywhere.
Pros: This ship had 3600 people aboard, yet felt empty. No long lines anywhere.
Cons: Needs to be updated, which will take place in 2016. Not in bad condition for having that many passengers on a daily basis.
Review: Excellent service, beautiful pools, plenty to do.
The ports of call except Palmero and associated excursions were terrific. Life on the ship was wonderful. The crew for the most part met the slogan of they can never say no.

Cons: I had a few issues with guest services. I had a problem with my door key and felt that they thought I as an idiot when in fact it was the lock.
Review: Some of the big show entertainment was disappointing.

Great food, great service, excursions and affordable
Pros: Great food, great service, excursions and affordable
Cons: Not having the ability to contact other guests when they are out of their rooms since their is not cell service. You can call the room and leave a voice message but it becomes a pain when you have to go back to your room each time to check your messages.
Review: This was our 3rd cruise with Princess and we have no plans to try any other cruise lines. Our experiences have had great memories with new friendships. The staff from top to bottom is amazing. The friendliness and the way they remember your names and address each and every day is fantastic. We are already in the process of planning our next cruise with Princess. Great adventures from start to finish.

Pros: Comfortable accommodations, excellent selection and presentation of meals, professional and personable staff, varied and exceptional selection of activities and entertainment options.
Cons: Availability and expense of in-port tours
Review: Enjoyed walking around port cities (good exercise!), but didn't realize ahead of time how distanced some of the sites (Stave churches, Pulpit Rock) were from dock. Might have opted for additional tours in Skoldjen and Stavanger. Also, was surprised that Stavanger only provided one tour of Lysfjord that fit into ship's time availability (10:00 a.m.). This did not accommodate the 2500 + passengers on the cruise.
Great ship experience and shore excursions.
Pros: Great ship experience and shore excursions.
Cons: Expensive (particularly bathrom charges!)
Review: Wonderful adventure.

Cleanliness of ship and great cabin steward.
Pros: Cleanliness of ship and great cabin steward.
Cons: Poor dining room service.
Review: The dining rooms, including the buffet, were understaffed. We sailed this ship 2 years ago and do not remember having to wait on the wait staff. Some mornings we got our own drinks. In the dining rooms we waited for long periods of time between courses after dishes were cleared. By the third night others in new groups (anytime) were commenting on the service. The staff seemed spread very thin. On the other hand, our cabin steward, Saul Lopez, was the best. We'd give him a big 10! Some of the excursions were disappointing. We realize these are poor countries with little to offer but some of the tours should be discontinued. The entertainment was good; the ship's singers and dancers are always a joy to watch but we saw the same shows 2 years ago. We thought they would have been updated.
Good food and service
Pros: Good food and service
Cons: People would get the lounge chairs and even tho not using them left towels, etc. to mark there territory. It was 6 of us and we NEVER had a lounge chair the entire trip. Last but not least, there was NO adult quiet area except for one that the ship charged a fee. We would have enjoyed a larger selection of music in different areas.
Review:
Food was excellent and night shows were great. We saw the musicals and dancers more on this ship than any other curise we have been on. We have never liked audience participation as a show in the theater. Our waiters at table 477 in Da Vinci Dining Room (5:30) were excellent. Our Steward IONA was great! We especially like the cruise director, Kelvin Joy and he really was a joy to be around.

Cons: Entertainment in the night clubs after the evening show was not very good. Many nights we ended up going back to our room, because we could not find any great entertainment. Some of the excursions were too expensive with not enough sightseeing tours of the islands.
Review: After having gone on 9 cruises, we have experienced many cruise lines. This was our first cruise with Princess. The ship was very nice and as always, the staff was excellent and tried in every way to make us feel well taken care of in all situations. The itinerary was interesting, but as always, St. Thomas was our favorite port.
Ports of call - Food excellent
Pros: Ports of call - Food excellent
Cons: Unexcited entertainment staff. Cabin was not as clean as we would expect (eg balcony table was not wiped (coffee stains) 3 days in succession. Bedside table had drink rings on check-in. It was never cleaned
