Grand Turk | Monday, May 20, 2024 | Monday, May 20, 2024 |
Grand Turk is a small island located at the end of the Bahamas chain. It is about 7 miles long and 2 miles wide. The Island and beaches are absolutely stunning and the people some of the friendliest and helpful people you will ever meet. The Island is virtually crime free and totally safe to wander any time of the day or night. Grand Turk is not a 'glitzy' Island. The evening's entertainment is typically a good meal taken at some of the best restaurants you can find (such as Calico Jacks), friendly and cosy Pubs like 'Bonney & Reads', and frequent live local music in the Hotel gardens. There is a Disco on the Island and this is highly rated by visitors and locals alike. It is however situated away from the Hotels and does not spoil anyone's quiet enjoyment of the balmy Caribbean evenings. | ||

Submit Your Own Review!Food and drink are great as is the staff and crew
Pros: Food and drink are great as is the staff and crew
Cons: Doesn't have a 24 hr food and drink spot besides roomservice for food
Review: We had a great time on the ship and was pleasantly surprised as to how nice our cabin with the balcony was. Food was very good and my wife has certain food allergies and they bent over backwards to ajust her menu . The staff was great . The waiter at the Isumi restaurant Jayan was great , he took care to make sure all was perfect for us, even in matching the sake with our meal. The entertainment was top notch and we all loved that there was live bands performing all over the ship vs just Dj's. The only con to me was that they didn't have a 24 hr food and drink spot on the ship as I'm a night owl . But over all I was very pleased with the whole cruise and with Royal Caribbean
crew was the best ever. Night time shows were great. Wonderful food
Pros: crew was the best ever. Night time shows were great. Wonderful food
Cons: Charge for internet was, I thought, A little high.
Review: First of all, we were very grateful that RC rerouted us from Haiti to Grand Turk. We appreciate their looking out for our safety. The buffet was superb. We didn't realize it was spring break so didn't expect so many kids onboard. But we found places away from the crowds to sit and enjoy the views. Our cabin steward was beyond helpful. He (I think his name is Hajje) was the sweetest guy. He always answered our questions and needs. The down side was we didn't realize we had to reserve dining room time before boarding. We weren't able to eat in the main dining room unless we wanted 8:45 pm. So it was disappointing to not be able to do this.
Main dining rooms exceptional quality and service. Friendliest cruise staff we have encountered.
Pros: Main dining rooms exceptional quality and service. Friendliest cruise staff we have encountered.
Cons: Maintenance crews on occasion blocked off portions of deck 4 outside where we like to walk. A minor complaint.
Review: Super friendly employees. Exceptional dinner menus and dining staff (a shout out to Mary and Tanaka at table 3 My Time dining…just simply the best). More quality entertainment than you could possibly imagine, from piano bar to ice skating shows to Lyric theater song and dance productions to…….well you get the idea. Plus rock wall, water slides, flow rider and more when you get tired of hangin around the pools. Just a GREAT ship.
Pros: No Pros
Cons: No Cons
Review: Only 2 complaints I had were that we had "joining" rooms attached with a door to a different family that had a screaming toddler all day, every day, and every night. The conjoining door completely took away any sound barrier, you could see their lights coming on and off and the shadows of everyone walking by. The attendant and staff were incredible so it's just a review of that part of the room itself. It was as if the tantrums were in the same room they were so loud and easy to hear. Also the costa maya port was over-packed and made it impossible to enjoy it to a decent extent. I know it had so much potential I'd love to go back but there were three ships there at once that altogether fit upwards of 10-15,000 people at once in the port. We were shoulder to shoulder and had a hard time going into a single store at any point. Everyone I know got immediately sick (some with covid) after visiting that crowded port. That point in the itinerary in terms of joining the other ships was poorly decided however I would still love to go back because the location itself was the most fun and beautiful.
State room and public spaces clean and comfortable
Pros: State room and public spaces clean and comfortable
Cons: Food poor and excursions difficult
Review: Excursions prime reason to sell trinkets. Those marked “mild” were physically difficult. Mayan ruins were not ruins at all. No place for adults to swim. Music too loud. Food in main dining room was poor. Entertainment was poor.
The friendly service was remarkable.
Pros: The friendly service was remarkable.
Cons: No Cons
Review: We had a wonderful time. Traveling with three children. The staff including those who cleaned our room and our servers at supper were so friendly, helpful and kind.
Food, destination, entertainment, family oriented
Pros: Food, destination, entertainment, family oriented
Cons: Weather
Review: This my first cruise with Royal Caribbean and my daughter's first time remembering being on a cruise. Her first time was when she was two. This whole vacation because of her she really wanted to go on one. We both had a great time. She really enjoyed the free pizza and ice cream bar as well as the arcade. The servers at our dinner time were amazing and spoiled us so much. We also enjoyed the ice skating show, mini golf and rock climbing. The weather at times were gloomy but it is that time of year for tropical storms so next time I'll take a cruise during my winter and my destination.
The public areas have been maintained nicely. The staff was excellent. Coming on board and departure were very well organized and quick.
Pros: The public areas have been maintained nicely. The staff was excellent. Coming on board and departure were very well organized and quick.
Cons: The carpets and furniture had stains. Many minor repairs to the room had not been done. The balcony had a great deal of rust on it.
Review: The ship is old and needs refurbishing. RC is in desperate need of more electric plug ins or plug ins for devices. This is a real problem with all the electronics people are using.
Lots of great entertainment & activities for all ages, clean ship, wonderful service
Pros: Lots of great entertainment & activities for all ages, clean ship, wonderful service
Cons: One elevator not working (long waits), coffee not good
Review: When we asked the grandkids (11 & 14) how they liked the cruise they said it was better than Disney World, which was their favorite before this vacation!
Pros: No Pros
Cons: No Cons
Review: We enjoyed the cruise. The food was great, and the shows were very entertaining
staff was very nice, clean rooms, decent food, great pool area
Pros: staff was very nice, clean rooms, decent food, great pool area
Cons: No Cons
Review: It was a great first cruise for us. The staff was very friendly and exceeded our expectations. We will definitely book again on AOS
Staff at bars, MDR and guest services was spot on! Very happy to be there and glad to see our smiling faces.
Pros: Staff at bars, MDR and guest services was spot on! Very happy to be there and glad to see our smiling faces.
Cons: Deluxe beverage package…did not have majority of listed top notch whiskeys.
Review: Beverage Director was awesome and accommodated us as best he could.
Good Trip except for Itinerary change after payment and great service on the ship
Pros: Good Trip except for Itinerary change after payment and great service on the ship
Cons: Covid testing was a hassle. Music played in Windjammer food area was too loud and not at all commensurate with the passenger demographic.
Review: WE were very disappointed when Halifax was dropped from our cruise itinerary AFTER we had paid. I sent a letter to Royal Caribbean and never had the courtesy of a reply. Not good customer service. St John should be dropped from the itinerary. It's a dead city and most all stores in the Marketplace and nearby shopping center were shuttered. (out of business).
Excellent service, activities, specialty restaurants, most entertainment
Pros: Excellent service, activities, specialty restaurants, most entertainment
Cons: Food is very mediocre at best. The ship is showing some age.
Review: The crew on Adventure of the Seas is outstanding with the exception of the Cruise Director who was not our favorite by far. There were plenty of activities and entertainment options. They headliner, a juggler was not great, but the shows with the Royal singers, dancers and band were very good as was the ice show. As far as the ship itself, it is showing its age. It was supposed to be "amplified," but that was cancelled due to COVID and as far as I know has not been rescheduled. The main dining room food was hit and miss. Some dishes were very good, while some were just awful. The food in the WIndjammer buffet was OK at breakfast, but not very good for lunch. One whole section of the grill portion was closed at the busiest times. Chops and Giovani's were both excellent. All in all, we had a good time, but we much prefer the Oasis and Quantum class ships. Adventure was fine for a fine night cruise, but don't think we would sail on a Voyager class ship that has not been amplified.
Friendliness, great food, clean and neat well kept ship
Pros: Friendliness, great food, clean and neat well kept ship
Cons: Price of adult beverage packages& requirement to purchase 2 if another adult shares your room
Review: This was our second Royal Caribbean cruise. It was a great trip, good food, great on ship nightly shows, reasonable on board shop prices, great hosts. We look forward to another venture next year.
Ship and staff were clean and very friendly and eager to assist us in anyway they could.
Pros: Ship and staff were clean and very friendly and eager to assist us in anyway they could.
Cons: Ship allows smoking in the casino area inside the ship.
Review: We had a great time but the worst thing about the whole cruise experience was the stale smoke smell on the 4th level which houses a bar area with much of the ships quiz activities ect. Also located on that level is Chops Grill that is a great restaurant and our favorite (by far) place to eat on the ship. The smoke smell from cigars and cigarettes was so bad whenever you entered that level you almost instantly held your breath or it was like taking a hit from Mike Tyson. Couldn't believe that Chops was located anywhere near this stench but inside Chops there was no smell of it. If a person went hungry or was bored it wasn't due to a lack of food or activities on this ship. I cannot compare the staff on this ship to any other since it was our first cruise but has to be hands down the most friendly and helpful people I've met in the service industry. We went to all the shows we could and enjoyed all of them. Wish they had an all exclusive package to make it a little less expensive since we bought the deluxe beverage package and had to get it for all people over 21 in the room. I had no idea of drink prices so got the package to be sure there were no charges to me at the end of the cruise and my wife does not drink alcohol so probably would have been cheaper without it.
Bus transfers a must. Cost & itinary exceptional.
Pros: Bus transfers a must. Cost & itinary exceptional.
Cons: Sorry to have missed pre-trip info meeting.
Review: Everything was so well scheduled & organized that provided us with less stress to thoroughly enjoy ourselves. Thank you.
Clean ship - great crew - awesome menu and food - many activities through out the and evening
Pros: Clean ship - great crew - awesome menu and food - many activities through out the and evening
Cons: needed better crowd control going into the ice show
Review: From the time we boarded the ship till the time we got off, we where made to feel like we where their only passengers. Our room was spotless and had a towel creature on the bed each evening. Food, food and more food all very good. Entertainment and a variety activities each day and evening kept us busy. Planning our excursion was so easy to do Staff was always ready to help with a smile. I am looking foreword to my next cruise with Royal Caribbean.
met nice people from all over the globe
Pros: met nice people from all over the globe
Cons: trip ended
Review: good food, calm water, great entertainment and some very interesting and beautiful tours with great guides
Well maintained ship; like the
Pros: Well maintained ship; like the
Cons: My husband is in a wheelchair and of all 3 ports of call, there were no tours offered for individuals in wheelchairs. As there were many people on the ship using scooters or wheelchairs, the cruise line has to do a better job of thinking about all of its guests when choosing tours.
Review: Though this is not one of RCI's newer ships, it was very well maintained. Our stateroom, and accessible one, was spacious and our stateroom attendant took care of all of our requests. We thought that the food in the main dining room was excellent, and the service provided there was also excellent. We enjoyed the shows that we attended, especially the ice skating show.
Wonderful staff! Wonderful activities! Wonderful food!

Food was the best ever! Service wonderful! Entertainment great.
Pros: Food was the best ever! Service wonderful! Entertainment great.
Cons: Karaoke sucked on ship, no selections at all and staff weren't the best on this venue.
Review: Our main problem for us was "date" selection. No idea it was spring break for 1200 kids on ship out of 3500! Northern US packed them in! Typical things like punching all elevator buttons, taking up hot tub and pools, nothing major. Felt bad for entertainers as studio was never full and sure because parents had to stay with little kids. We loved the ship, one of our best!
great size ship; not too large that you are lost and not too small that you are bored
Pros: great size ship; not too large that you are lost and not too small that you are bored
Cons: not as new so doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the larger newer ships---but you understand that from the beginning so not much of an issue
Review: The attention to detail during evening dinning was THE BEST that I have ever seen. We were at table 471 and had Head Waiter Hikmah and Asst. Waiter Ashraye. Hikmah was spot on. Not a thing was left unaccounted. They were a GREAT TEAM and made our dining a wonderful part of our cruise. it was more than about the food! Ken, cruise director was not the best I have seen on past Royal Cruises so that is why I am giving this cruise a 4-star and not 5 stars. I feel the cruise director sets the pace and Ken was just not as involved or energetic as I'd have expected or experienced in the past.
Good ports of call/great food/ super employees who cater to your needs/great price
Pros: Good ports of call/great food/ super employees who cater to your needs/great price
Cons: Very limited breakfast menu/frequently repeated items on supper menu/ entertainment was disappointing
Review: Head waiter went out of his way by having the cooks recreate a dessert that I had 10 yrs ago, but was not on this year’s menu! Exceptional! Had to go to 3 floors on checking out day to find a working toilet Our fav pic by photographers was not purchased as staff would not crop out miscellaneous people on the edges of photo. Still...a wonderful week
Excellent service; friendly staff and great food.
Pros: Excellent service; friendly staff and great food.
Cons: Seats too close together by pools.
Review: Excellent cruise!
Lots of pool seating/better food choices/excellent staff. Everyone was genuinely courteous and they meant it! I was very impressed. Every single staff member I came in contact was exceptionally kind helpful and polite.
Pros: Lots of pool seating/better food choices/excellent staff. Everyone was genuinely courteous and they meant it! I was very impressed. Every single staff member I came in contact was exceptionally kind helpful and polite.
Cons: Excursion packages not well organized. I found the bed in the cabin to be a bit hard.

Everything was the Best

Service and Waite Staff
Pros: Service and Waite Staff
Cons: Traveling with Rude New Yorkers
Review: There are so many things to love about The Adventure of the Seas, I'm not sure where to start. As Diamond Plus members my wife and I are not new to Royal, and since we live in California, where Royal is NOT, we've had to travel Princess and thus have a large basis from which to compare the two. There is no comparison. Royal is better, hands down, going away. The food in Royal's buffet, the Windjammer, far, far exceeds what Princess offers in their buffet, not to mention that it's more spacious and easier to navigate. We aren't treated poorly on Princess by the Waite and Service staff, but the friendliness and out going, sincere nature of Royal puts them in a class by themselves. As to the Adventure, it was NICE to once again see a Royal ship WITH a Viking Crown lounge. They've converted many of them to other venues on other ships, that it was a pure joy to go there, and have a quiet place to drink, and talk with friends and family..

Review: nice older ship, plenty to do, staff was nice and friendly. food was better then expected .
Good food, good service. Very clean and easy to move around the ship. The water slides were great!
Pros: Good food, good service. Very clean and easy to move around the ship. The water slides were great!
Cons: Two ports - Sint Maarten and Saint Kitts were pretty much write offs...very poor, bad infrastructure. Typical port shopping. Maitre'D was useless.
Review: The ship was great. Just updated in November 2016. The cabin steward Savio was awesome...he was invisible but available when you needed him. Great water slides, good entertainment. Shopping was just meh. Only one shore excursion, St. Lucia Island Delights, food was not good...Cruise lines could save a lot of money by not having Maitre'D's....they don't do anything. The servers were awesome.
Great service, great ship, best embarkation and debarkation I've ever experienced
Pros: Great service, great ship, best embarkation and debarkation I've ever experienced
Cons: Entertainment sub-par. While singers and dancers were excellent, there was too much
Review: I would definitely take another RCI cruise
Lots to do, great food, good shows, promenade rooms
Pros: Lots to do, great food, good shows, promenade rooms
Cons: Heat / a/c was inconsistent
Review: The staff was fabulous. Great room steward, dining waiter and assistant. Loved all of the shore excursions except the Chocolate Experience in St. Kitts. That seemed to be somewhat misrepresented and not worth the money. All other tours were great. The facilities were nicely rehabed recently. The ship had a lot of activities. We enjoyed all of the shows and watching the ice skating. The Flowrider was also fun to watch. We were impressed with the guest services staff when they tried to have a new suitcase repaired (damaged by RCCL), were unable to and replaced with a similar brand new piece of luggage. Turned a negative into a positive!
Very good trip and ship

Review: Very Good trip and the Trikes in Aruba were great not through the cruse line have their own website
The staff were amazing. The ship has been refurbished and is beautiful. The food was very good. The children that were onboard were well behaved. There were lots of activities and caribbean music around the pool area. The weather was perfect.

Review: This was our third time on the Adventure of the Seas. We have been on the Oasis and Allure. While these large ships are beautiful and like a floating resort, the Adventure of the Seas felt like being on a cruise ship. These smaller ships can visit the true caribbean islands that the large ships can't. The staff are more attentive, they all seemed happy to be there and interact with the passengers more so then the staff on the large ships. We have taken many cruises and this was one of our very favorite family cruises. We will definitely return to the Adventure of the Seas.
Beautiful ship, helpful and friendly staff, beautiful ports, good food
Pros: Beautiful ship, helpful and friendly staff, beautiful ports, good food
Cons: nothing negative to say
Review: It was a fabulous vacation and met all of my expectations and more!

Pros: A hotel-transportation-dining-entertainment-relaxation experience
Cons: We couldn't get there fast enough!!
Review: Our family of 7 had the privilege of sailing this wonderful ship with the most wonderful staff and crew in the Caribbean! San Juan is amazing and I highly recommend you fly in the day before or stay and extra night to take in the amazing cultural and historical experience! The nightlifebis alive and buzzing with dancing and eating! St.Maarten truly is the friendliest island in the Caribbean and the beaches and people's are lovely. St Kitts to Antigua to St.Lucia to Barbados, never will you say, "I'm bored!", but, you will say, "What's next!" Huge shout out to Just Cruises and specifically Val Cusumano for her insightful advice, great suggestions, and an over all expertise on this journey! We loved it so much, we booked a Western on the Harmony of the Seas in 2018! I'd recommend nothing but Royal Caribbean and won't consider any other! Thanks Royal Caribbean and Just Cruises for a memory of a lifetime!

Review: I think the larger and new ships are nicer but that goes with the territory. Once you travel on those you compare the cruise to that. I think the upkeep could be better on an older ship, ex. cleaner windows, light bulbs in that work( esp. the dining area) ..entertainment was good but the regular dance and singing team was not that great. The entertainment that they brought in was very good. If a ship says in the "dining room no shorts, lazy wear" then stick to that for everyone...why should some abide by rules and pack a heavier suitcase and others not. Food was excellent.
Absolutely superb dining comparable to the most highly rated cruise lines
Pros: Absolutely superb dining comparable to the most highly rated cruise lines
Cons: Not really a "con", but this is a massive ship with 2,600+ guests, so be prepared for lots of company
Review: This is a beautiful large ship with outstanding dining, comfortable staterooms, terrific ports of call, and an attentive friendly staff. It is an excellent value, particularly for budget-conscious cruisers.
Service was excellent! Food was delicious (couldn't believe it)! Entertainment was great! This was far superirior to that last 2 Celebrity and Axamara ships.Weather was fabulous the entire week.!!! Not a drop of rain.
Pros: Service was excellent! Food was delicious (couldn't believe it)! Entertainment was great! This was far superirior to that last 2 Celebrity and Axamara ships.Weather was fabulous the entire week.!!! Not a drop of rain.
Cons: Concierge was awful and the Diamond lounge was small and not at all special compared to most other ships.Specialty Italian restauran was awful.
Review: Our cabin and balcony were fabulous! The most storage we have ever had on any ship so far. Service was exceptional in cabin and dining room. Our sailin excursion in Domenica was amazing(we had never been there). Had the best time with Michael and Jill! First time ever that we were allowed to walk on with all of our luggage. That was really nice! Michael and Jill's first cabin was dirty and so they got upgraded to a bigger inside on deck 10. Will speak to you when you return from your vacation. I want to look into the Crystal cruise that sails to Costa del Sol, Canary Islands, and Portugal. If Royal Carib does something similar, I would consider it. Thanks, Debbie

Review: As in our "cons" box, we were disappointed in the quality of food in the main dining room and the lack of personal needed in the buffet area. So without delicious freshly prepared and served food, a large part of the cruising experience is missing. The rest of the cruise was a lot of fun! We did enjoy Johnny Rockets one evening and treated ourselves to unlimited onion rings and fries! The pool area was active and a great place to spend our last day at sea when they had a fantastic barbecue of burgers, chicken, and all the trimmings. Yes, food is an important part of fun.

Overall I was very satisfied with my cruise
Pros: Overall I was very satisfied with my cruise
Cons: It would have been nice to have a pad of paper and a pen on the desk so notes could be made. Also, regarding luggage pickup. It would have been nice if the luggage could have been checked through to the airport and final destination.
Review: We had outstanding wait staff. I want to commend the head waiter, Memzno, asst. waiter Rodel and our bar server Christian. They did an outstanding job. The food was fantastic but our servers made the meal enjoyable. Our room attendant, Frank Sandoval did an excellent job of taking care of our needs. All of these gentlemen did an outstanding job.

We are impressed with the check in and check out process. The guides on the tours were excellent. Very knowledgeable and provided historical backgrounds of the cities. The ship was recently renovated so everything was new. We look forward to our next Royal Carribean cruise.
